Press Release

Voltz Clarke Gallery is pleased to present Sensory Room by Tallulah Dirnfeld at NADA Miami 2026: NADA Projects.

Shaped within rich plum walls, Sensory Room presents a series of oil on canvas paintings by hyperrealistic American artist, Tallulah Dirnfeld. The curated installation cultivates an immersive environment that invites a lull to observe and experience the dessert compositions. The room’s dark cool tone and plush rug centers the booth in a monochrome palette. An ambient score offers a meditative soundscape and a bowl of red hard candies invite viewers to taste and smell as the sharp syrupiness evokes personal memories and fosters a shared experience alongside the paintings.

The still lifes center on desserts as subjects and displace the cakes, cookies, creams, and other confections from their standard environments and associated ceremonies. The artist’s visual language forms a juxtaposition as the surface presents the familiar while her surreal distortion of the canvas highlights the metallic sheen and artificial sweetness. In the fleeting moment before the sweets are consumed, Dirnfeld studies the decadent and seductive facade and explores how the heightened attention reveals the corporeal nature of the ephemeral delights. Inspired by Louise Glück’s poem “Primavera,” Dirnfeld’s series resonates with the line “very soon everything will disappear.” Dirnfeld focuses on how similar to the passing beauty of the spring season, the sweets stand in the moments before their eventual consumption. The allure exists in the evanescence.

The immersive installation fosters a multisensory experience to engage with Dirnfeld’s dessert series and to create a shared space to linger in the fleeting moment before the desserts are devoured and destroyed. Tallulah Dirnfeld lives and works in New York. Her work has been included in exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rome, and Palm Beach.
