Voltz Clarke Gallery is pleased to present Bend Here, a solo exhibition, by Natasha Law.
In her twelfth exhibition at Voltz Clarke Gallery, London based painter, Natasha Law returns to her signature female figures. The featured paintings in Bend Here capture this recognizable silhouette with reduced details to emphasize the form as shape, color, and space. Stretching, bending, folding, and reaching, each individual body escapes from and dances within the confines of the cartridge paper all while expanding beyond limitations into something far and unseen. Although the subject matter may register as provocative, the artist strives to capture and represent intimate daily moments of the modern woman. To achieve this vision, Law asks close friends and family members to model for her figurative compositions.
Focusing mostly on paper for Bend Here, the high gloss nature of the paint delicately balances with the natural texture of the cartridge paper. The vibrant range of colors in the selection of paintings each carry a solid depth and lustrous finish. Law’s graphite lines of the drawn forms then subtly shine through the painting’s surface.
Natasha Law is a United Kingdom native and graduated from Camberwell College of Arts. She continues to live and work in London and has been represented by Voltz Clarke Gallery for over two decades. Law has exhibited her pieces internationally including in Hong Kong, London, and New York. Her oeuvre is in a number of well-known private collections.
