The Colony Hotel and Voltz Clarke Gallery are pleased to present FLUX, a solo exhibition by Karen Tompkins.
Karen Tompkins’ latest series, FLUX, captures the essence of time by exploring the intricate interplay between motion and perception. With sweeping brushstrokes that transition from serene stillness to bursts of acceleration, her work evokes the exhilaration of a passing train or a speeding car. Through her paintings, Tompkins reveals time’s ephemeral nature—its constant flux and elusive moments of clarity. The fleeting nature of time becomes a compelling visual language—abstract in form yet deeply evocative of the ebb and flow of the tides. Through FLUX, she invites the viewer to reflect on the rhythms of life, where stillness and motion coexist in a continuous, ever-changing harmony.
Rooted deeply in Florida’s natural beauty, her palette draws inspiration from the exotic flora of Palm Beach with tropical pinks, lush greens, and the deep azure of the Atlantic ocean coming together to echo a dynamic interplay of serenity and energy.
