Canadian born Jeff Chester places areas of pure color in contrast with flattened, stylized human figures. While many of his canvases are crisp even with a retro feel, others have a futuristic quality almost questioning in what century we currently live?

Chester explains, “Portraits have an ability to connect with others and allow us to contemplate our own identity. A portrait is an opportunity to transcend time; to live on in the form of paint and colour. They show us not just a likeness, but also what it is to be human.“
