Voltz Clarke Gallery is pleased to present Manic Prints, a solo exhibition featuring the photographs of Nancy Richardson.

Nancy Richardson (American) is a Shelter Island-based artist who uses advanced printing technologies to generate large-scale, multi-panel images in rich, complex color. This process results in striking, archival-quality prints that are, despite traditionally delicate subject matter, effortlessly demanding.

Richardson’s portfolio is composed primarily of two separate bodies of work: floral arrangements and cityscapes. In her flower pieces, the scale and clarity of the images reveals the subtle nuances of each petal, bestowing the well-trod composition with landscape-like bravado. The cityscapes, shot in lower Manhattan, consist of multiple layered images of the same scene photographed at different times. By employing this technique, Richardson is able to capture the dynamic quality of each location as altered and affirmed by the people who pass through it.

The artist has been exhibited in multiple galleries, including Charles Cowles Gallery in Manhattan and the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, New York. Prior to her pursuit of photography, Richardson worked for Condé Nast Publications as a senior editor and columnist from 1970 to 1993.
