On View: November 29, 2018 – February 10, 2019
Location: The Colony Palm Beach, 155 Hammon Avenue, Palm Beach, FL 33480
Opening Reception: November 29, from 6pm to 8pm
Spanish photorealist painter Gemma Gené will attend the reception for her solo show, A Few of my Favorite Things, filled with 8 large-scale canvases on Thursday, November 29th in partnership with the Young Friends of the Norton Museum. Due to her training as an architect and international education in Spain, Brazil, and the United States, Gene’s technique and attention to detail are heavily influenced by her meticulous education. She brings a sculptural quality to her paintings by focusing on a wide range of objects wrapped in reflective paper, which simultaneously both conceals and reveals elements of the subject. Gené aims to transform mundane objects into euphoric expressions through her precise technique and playful use of reflections, ultimately seeking to blur the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional.
