Salvatore Ferragamo Presents
RENAISSANCE
Third in Special Contemporary Art Series

New York, October 2007 - Salvatore Ferragamo will present Renaissance, a contemporary fine art show curated by Blair Voltz Clarke scheduled to open mid May, 2008.

When we hear Renaissance, we cannot help but think of the masters of painting and sculpture whose work exemplifies the rigorous artistic activity of the time. The achievements of Leonardo DaVinci, Michelangelo and Raphael were milestones within this larger period of humanistic revival and cultural change. Beyond its significance in Western History, the word Renaissance is translated more generally as “rebirth.” As March heralds the first signs of spring, the contemporary artists on view in Renaissance focus their attention on nature in bloom while channeling the creative gusto associated with the time.

In keeping with Salvatore Ferragamo’s continuous synthesis with the contemporary cultural environment, Salvatore Ferragamo has created a platform for exhibiting fine art in its flagship Madison Avenue store. Exhibiting a range of established and emerging artists, the gallery at Salvatore Ferragamo provides an opportunity to present some of the most significant contributions to contemporary fine art to a larger audience. The Ferragamo Gallery has hosted numerous contemporary shows, as well as those based on the company’s rich archives of innovation and design. Previously featured artists include Tracy Emin, Sam Taylor-Wood, Andres Serrano, Natasha Law, Rob Pruitt, Kelly Lamb, Larry Clark, Elizabeth Peyton, Leo Villareal, John Waters, Marilyn Minter, Will Cotton and Steven Klein.

The artists included in Renaissance have been hand- selected by southern art consultant and curator, Blair Clarke.
